Abstract:
The first in a series of surveys on Internet usage and its impact on China. Conducted by Professor Guo Liang of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Center for Social Development. The research objectives included gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the ways in which people were incorporating this new (to China) technology, the attitudes of non-users toward the Internet, the policies of local governments, and the social impact of the Internet.
